Paul started tattooing in 1977 in his home town of Griffith NSW. In those days the nearest tattooer was either Melbourne “350 mls from Griffith” or Sydney about 600 mls from Griffith. Paul is a self taught Tattooer and once he started he pursued the art with a passion. Eventually starting a studio in Griffith which he called Borderline Tattoos named in preparation of moving the studio and his young family “wife Robyn, and three children, Rickelle, Ben and Luke” to the Gold Coast where he opened Borderline in Kirra on the border of QLD and NSW in 1985, the studio was straight across the road from Kirra Beach and in those days when the surf was pumping the spray from the famous breaks would drench the shop front. Tattoos from a family run business : Over the years that followed Borderline was moved to Coolangatta, then Burleigh Heads, where it is still located although the studio was sold to Tim Ebbles, who did his apprenticeship with Paul. In 1989 Paul and Robyn opened Gold Coast Tattoos.”GCT” In Southport where Paul worked until 1992 when Skin FX was opened in Surfers Paradise. The next studio was Crossfire Tattoos which was built in 1999 and is also located in Surfers paradise, which was built to combat the influx of studios opening on top of the Skin FX Studio. Crossfire is run by Pauls elder son Ben and pauls wife Robyn. In 2008 the family acquired Studio 22 which is the studio within a studio, as 22 is an extension on Skin FX where Paul and son Luke and Tony Ranger ply their trade, and run the studios with the help of the best crews of artists and Staff that any business would be proud of. just remember...
