The Arkana Motel offers clean and comfortable, air-conditioned accommodation in Maryborough, Queensland. The motel is conveniently located just minutes from the City Centre and is the perfect base to explore the Fraser Coast.
Maryborough is a complete visitor experience like no other. Glorious Colonial Architecture, outstanding museums, riverside dining, a first class theatre and magnificent parklands - Maryborough is a must-see attraction on the Fraser Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Maryborough was settled in 1847 and is one of Queensland's oldest provincial cities. Located three hours north of Brisbane, Maryborough was a major immigration port into Australia and a visit to the City's historic port area – Portside retains many reminders of this period. The port may be long dormant, but its history and gloriously preserved buildings remain – along with a sense of time suspended.

Things to do .

Heritage City Walk
Be transported back in time and discover Maryborough's colourful past on a tour with 'Mary Heritage' our City Ambassador, departing from City Hall at 9am each weekday. Dressed in period costume, 'Mary Heritage' will take you on a free, one-hour guided tour of the city. See some of our city's 28 buildings and sites of historical interest.

Wharf Street Precinct
Contains many of Maryborough's early buildings and an atmosphere of old world charm. Stroll around the historic buildings and bring back echoes of bygone days, sailing ships, greasy wool and bewildered immigrants. Check out the Maryborough Military & Colonial Museum, Bond Store Museum, the Customs House Museum and look in at the Heritage Centre to see if your ancestors were one of 21,000 listed as disembarking here.

Maryborough Tours
Take a drive tour on the Maryborough Tours sightseeing tour. Tours leave from City Hall in Kent Street at 10am and 12noon on Thursdays.

Heritage Market Day
Held every Thursday, Maryborough comes alive on market day. The atmosphere is vibrant, with plenty to see and do and at 1pm witness the firing of the time cannon by the Town Crier and 'Mary Heritage'.

Mary Ann Steam Train
Get on board Maryborough's Mary Ann steam train, a full sized replica of the first steam locomotive built in Queensland in 1873. Rides operate every Thursday as part of the city's weekly heritage markets, and the last Sunday of the month during 'Sunday in the Park' activities.

Brennan & Geraghty's Store Museum
Visit a remarkable store that had one hundred and one years of trading (1871 - 1972) and still has the stock to prove it! The store is open seven days a week excluding Christmas Day and Good Friday, however, the adjoining houses are not open to the public.

Mary Poppins
Maryborough has a unique connection to the world's most famous nanny that no other place can claim. Mary Poppins' author P. L. Travers was born in Maryborough in 1899. Visit the Mary Poppins statue in Richmond Street – a life sized bronze statue of the world's most famous nanny. Take a pencil or crayon and paper to the Town Hall Green where ten Mary Poppins characters are etched on the brick plinths. Take a copy by placing a sheet of paper on top and rubbing with a pencil.
