Debbie Hogg

I originally qualified doing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy Honours Degree at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1985. This year will be my 25th year since graduating.

In that time I have worked in South Africa, Zimbabwe, England and Scotland, before immigrating to Australia in 1991. Over the years I have worked in a number of areas including hospitals, health centres, private clinics and private physiotherapy practices. The last 15 years of my practice has been in private practice where I have specialised. I have completed my Level 1 and Level 2 in Sports Physiotherapy, a Certificate in Hydrotherapy and Introductory and Advanced courses in Western Acupuncture and Dry Needling. I have completed many courses and continue to do so. These have included: Women’s’ Health, the Jaw(TMJ) and innumerable musculoskeletal courses. I have been the Principle Physiotherapist at Hyperdome Physiotherapy for 12 years.

My name is Alix Rasi. I graduated from the University of Queensland in 1991. Since then I have worked at Prince Charles Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and QEII Hospital, where I held the role of Women’s Health physiotherapist. Over the last 12 years I have worked in private practice. My physiotherapy interests include Women’s Health, the Jaw(TMJ), Dry Needle and Western Acupuncture and Hydrotherapy. I am continuing to develop my skills in these areas to provide up to date treatments for our clients. I enjoy being able to help people improve and manage their health, so that they can continue to enjoy their lifestyle.

I was initially attracted to physiotherapy because of my interest in health and well being and my love of dealing with people. What I enjoy most about my job is that I meet lots of very interesting people, there is never a dull moment. It is a very rewarding job where every day is different and I am not only able to help people but able to establish long term relationships with them and hopefully make a difference to the quality of their lives.

I graduated from Griffith University with an undergraduate Master of Physiotherapy in 2005, since wanting to become a physiotherapist from the age of 16. From the time of graduation, I have injected myself into the private practice setting, taking a special interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. My experience continues to expand as I progress my professional development. Recently I have added to my portfolio the ability to perform Dry Needling, Western Acupuncture Needling and also treat Women’s Health issues. My sports oriented background allows me to appreciate the necessity to return to sport at a high level or even at a level which provides some simple pleasure in life. One of the most satisfying aspects of this job is seeing a variety of people and assisting them to make positive changes to their life.
