Evolution With a history as rich and colourful as Queensland's, the land upon which Victoria Park Golf sits has been: a quarry; a rifle range; the proposed site for Queensland Government House and later for the University of Queensland; an encampment for World War Two American troops; a single-men's refuge and squatters camp – and then a nine-hole municipal golf course and clubhouse opened in 1931. More than six decades later, Adam Flaskas and Siobhan Bickle, residing in Melbourne at the time, were looking for an ideal location to expand on their love for hitting a few balls on a driving range. In December 1999 partners Adam Flaskas and Siobhan Bickle, Louis and Mary Bickle, successfully tendered to the Brisbane City Council for the redevelopment, construction and operation of the Victoria Park Golf Complex and the creation of the Victoria Park Function Venue and Caddy Shack Cafe. Opening the complex in 2002 Adam, Siobhan, Louis and Mary, along with their first employee Allen Hill, ran the golf shop from dawn til dusk where later that year Siobhan also coordinated functions from. They ran the functions single handedly, with Siobhan and Mary cooking and Adam serving the guests. With sheer passion Adam and Siobhan resided onsite with three guard dogs for 6 years in what is now office space. Victoria Park has continued to grow and evolve under the guidance of the Directors, and is now one of Brisbane's busiest function & lifestyle venues, with a reputation for quality and diversity. From its conception of 3 employees Victoria Park now employs 150 full time and casual staff members. 2002 Redevelopment of the ‘Old Clubhouse' into 3 function rooms 2002 Construction of two tiered driving range 2005 Opening of the Bar & Grill (formally Caddy Shack Cafe) 2006 Launch of the fully licensed 18 hole putt putt course 2006 Opening of the silk lined marquee 2006 Launch of the Golf learning centre with full time teaching PGA golf professional 2008 Opening of the Garden Marquee in November 2010 Relaunch of the extended and renovated Marquee in January 2011 Soft refurbishment of 3 function rooms within the main function building 2012 Awarded National winners for MEA Specialty Venue

Commitment

Our passion is fuelled by the respect that we uphold.

The evolution that we continue to seek, the acheivements that we celebrate,

the relationships that we foster, the infectious fun that we cultivate,

and the risks that we have the courage to take...

Combined, these values are what make Victoria Park, a destination of enjoyment and truly amazing experiences.

Corporate Social Responsibility

With Victoria Park's open green spaces and family environment it's no wonder we place a great importance on the sustainable impact of our daily operations and community engagement.
Victoria Park has been working hard towards developing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, encouraging a positive impact and to strengthening our mission. As such we have adopted a number of Corporate Social Responsibility actions to contribute towards a sustainable business and events industry such as;

  • Sourcing local produce with short, low carbon producing transport.
  • Installing LED lighting where possible as well as a ‘shut down' policy for equipment and lighting not in use.
  • Utilising LCD monitors, no screensavers, turning monitors off when away from the desk for more than 30 minutes, air conditioners set at 24 degrees celsius, printers default to print double sided, printing on carbon neutral paper, recycling paper and power shut down procedures for end of day.
  • Ensuring cleaning products are recycled or have a high % of recycled products in them. We have an OZ Tank which helps minimise the use of excess chemicals.
  • Harvesting an onsite herb garden providing an avenue to turn our vegetable scraps into compost.
  • Staff participation in multiple charity fun runs, quarterly voluntary blood donations
  • and ‘charity drives' to collect unwanted clothes, shoes, books and linen.
  • Providing the option for clients to utilise fans instead of air conditioning, whilst enjoying the natural breezes through open doors (available in Quartz, Alabaster & Ballroom).
  • Victoria Park can help you make a difference by organising a carbon offset for your event. At a minimal cost you can help the environment and we will provide you with a certificate of your contribution to the environment.
