Three (3)d Environmental specializes in the floristic assessment of tropical and sub-tropical ecosystems. The team has worked extensively throughout south-east Queensland, Cape York Peninsula and the Wet Tropics World Heritage area of Queensland with a number of projects extending northwards through the Torres Strait Islands to the West-New Britain Province of Papua New Guinea. The groups skill base includes detailed floristic analysis; bio-regional scale vegetation mapping assessment; environmental impact assessment; landform and geological analysis, and; the preparation of land management reports for conservation reserves and indigenous lands (within northern Australia).
David has 17 years experience in the disciplines of impact and ecological risk assessment , resource mapping, floristic assessment and conservation planning having worked across a range of industry sectors including mining, infrastructure and as a consultant to government organisations throughout Queensland, the Northern Territory, North-Western Australia and Papua New Guinea. His particular expertise lies in tropical forest ecology including floristic and structural classification, and associated mapping of those features. During a consultancy period to the Wet Tropics Management Authority spanning 14 years in partnership with Peter Stanton, David's comprehensive mapping of flora associations within the world heritage area greatly increased the understanding of ecological function in one of the world's most botanically diverse regions. The culmination of this work, a series of 38 1:50 000 scale vegetation community maps and descriptive reports form the basis for regional ecosystem classification in Queensland's Wet Tropical Bioregion. David's professional career was initiated in the resources industry working as a regional exploration geologist in Papua New Guinea (Milne Bay Province). He has also recently completed several major landform and geological assessments on properties throughout northern Australia.
