In 1996, The Dirty Little Shaping Factory was expanded to incorporate a showroom at Kortum Drive in Burleigh Heads. There was a need for an outlet due to the large number of clientele now searching for an innovative young designer. Dale's new Fantasea designs of that time had created much interest and were proven to be successful when he received a second in the '96 Gold Coast Masters event and a first in the '97 Senior Men's Gold Coast titles. A new executive model was released in 1998 and sales were strong and continued growing steadily after its release into Tasmania . Throughout his teenage years Dale competed regularly in an extensive number of contests, only slowing up to concentrate on establishing his new showroom & building the business. A further expansion to the showroom in 1998 and renovations in 1999, allowed us to provide a much improved customer service. The year of 1997 was a very successful one for Dale. The Australian Men's Open champion and Queensland champion were both riding Dale's designs. These two young guns had been on and off Dale's boards for a number of years. Dale has himself grabbed a first in the Senior Men's Gold Coast titles, proving that his designs are functional and contemporary. In July 2000, Dale agreed to sponsor a surfer to travel and compete in the WQS. Dale's dream of traveling the world and competing lives through this surfer's journeys. In October 1998, City Beach Australia approached Dale to shape some boards and, since then, over 15 000 boards have been shaped under the City Beach and Jacks labels. With past sponsors such as Billabong, Hot Tuna, West Suits, Aleeda, Mango, Starbus and Bolle, proof exists that Dale is a competitive winning surfer. He understands the finer techniques to shaping good competition boards and can easily create a board for the weekend warrior or the absolute beginner. Dale is an approachable and knowledgeable shaper and at any time you wish to discuss your requirements for a board, please phone him on +61 416 160 335 or email us today.
