Meet our Dietitian  Suzannah Smart APD, AN

My passion for good food & cooking started at a very young age as I grew up in a family where it was a central part of our lives. This progressed as I grew older and I thrived in my Home Economics & Health classes at school, eventually coming first in both subjects in Grade 12. During this time I also started experiencing some health difficulties and began to learn first-hand how important food can be in directly influencing my life, my body and my health. This further fuelled my interest in this area and led me to complete a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics (dietitian) at the Queensland University of Technology.

As a Dietitian local on the Sunshine Coast I want to share my enthusiasm and zeal for delicious healthy food with you and help you transform your eating habits with meals that not only taste great but also give your body all the nutrition it needs to get you feeling your best.

It’s not just about getting short-term results but relieving the stress of eating so you can love and appreciate food while enjoying a balance that works for you in your day-to-day life.

I personally understand how difficult it can be managing health conditions with food and that’s why I’m dedicated to gaining an understanding of your life and how I can best support you to reach your health and lifestyle goals.

When would you visit a dietitian?

Dietitians assist with managing many illnesses but may be of particular help with conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, gastro-intestinal disease and food allergies. They usually work alongside other Practitioners, such as your GP to give you the best possible outcome.

Dietitians are health professionals who can help translate scientific information about nutrition into practical advice for people living on the Sunshine Coast & QLD who need their services.

A dietitian is someone who has reached a certain level of competency through university study. This includes theory and assessment covering clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and food service management.

I provide education and assistance for dietary management of health conditions such as:

Diabetes (and borderline Diabetes)
Cardiovascular Disease
High Cholesterol
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Allergies & Intolerances
Hypertension
